New Bed

As promised, photos of Ellie's "new" bed. She continues to do fairly well in it. She doesn't get out on her own -- not sure why -- once she's in it. Little Kitty seems to like it too. And, yes, she sleeps with ALL these animals and dolls in her bed. She has to kiss them all regularly. The pink monkey is "Mona" and she holds her pacifier when she needs it held. There is also "Glo" the worm whose face glows and who plays music; Dora who says nighty-night phrases and plays a lullaby -- and, best of all, whose eyes open and close; the bear whose tummy lights up and changes colors; an Asian baby doll, an "Ellie"phant; a giraffe that says night time prayers and a couple of pull toys that play music. Before we took one side off there were more. Girl likes her some company in her crib.

I am still contemplating a toddler bed. Pros? Cons? I know one thing. Her mattress is LESS than comfy now that I've sat on it. I think this might be why she sleeps better in our bed than hers -- well, that and she certainly likes to snuggle up to her mama!!

Nah, I'd go right to the bed she'll sleep in for a while. Or keep this one like it is til she is too tall. At her age I don't think kids know comfort like us old folk do! I know as a teen I could easily sleep on a floor. Those days are long gone.

Nola's crib converted to a toddler bed, but when she escaped, and I had to do something right away, the toddler rail was gonna take 6-8 weeks to arrive. So, I opted for a toddle bed. For Nola, I knew she would prefer something more cozy. I thought a bigger bed (twin or full size) would be overwhelming for her. Plus, I also considered cost and didn't want to spend a lot of money (since I'm still not working).

I love her new toddler bed -- it's rated through age 7, though I am sure we'll switch it before then.

Oh, and Nola did fabulously transitioning into her new bed for the first 2 months - and now, she wants 'mommy's bed' every night.

That's a whole other issue :(

Anyway, if she likes her crib converted bed, I say stay with it for now :)

stick with the crib for now :) I would skip the toddler bed and go straight to the twin bed when you're ready. Both of my boys were in twin beds before their 2nd birthdays and they did great :)

We had to buy a toddler bed when Tyler tried to hurl himself out onto his head at 14months...it uses the same size mattress as a crib. If I had to do it over again, I'd just get a twin bed and either leave it on the floor with the box springs or get a guard rail. But, we got a lot of use out of ours with 3 kids behind Tyler to use it :) We just unloaded it on Tim's co workers 2 weeks ago. Good luck!

I should mention our crib didn't have a convert option! We refinished the one I used as a baby.
