Consignment -- Part III

I am now on my third and final consignment sale. Encores and More North is open to the public starting Saturday, August 7 at 10:00 a.m. Josh and Kevin worked set up on Sunday evening. I worked drop-off on Sunday afternoon. Josh and I just dropped off our stuff today. Sadly, I have just as much stuff going to Goodwill (or maybe somewhere else, I haven't decided yet) as I did to consignment. I'm very picky about what I put out to sell. If I wouldn't buy it; if it has a minor stain, I'm just not taking it. I know, however, many of these things still have a lot of life left in them -- thus, donations.

We have now finally cleared out the tubs of Josh's cloths that were stored in the attic. You can actually walk up there a bit more now. I've cleared out a lot of Ellie's bigger things that she didn't play with anymore -- probably to make way for more stuff, yay. I'm on a "move it out" kick lately. I want more space. I want my HOUSE back. :-)

I'm thinking that I will continue to keep my consignment rack up as it's making a good laundry rack for Josh. If I can more a few more of (Kevin's) work boxes to the attic, I think I will have enough room to move the craft table down near the window and have a laundry area around the corner from the washer/dryer. Whoever built this house was a MAN because no one would EVER put a washer/dryer area in the HALL in front of the bathroom so that there is no room to sort, fold, etc.

I digress. So I get to shop the pre-sale as a worker and I'm telling you I can't IMAGINE how in the world the workers can even make a DENT in the amount of things that are there. 1200 consignors. Toys stacking 12" tall, I'm certain. The "organizer" is coming in tonight to get it in order. Bless her soul.

I'm excited to see what I can find. Josh and I "browsed" today when we dropped off. I saw several cute toys that I think I will get and put up for Ellie for Christmas -- can you believe I'm talking about CHRISTMAS in August??

Back to school night is tonight. I'm anxious to see who Josh's teachers are this year. I know he's anxious to see who is in his class. The right teacher can make a year wonderful. The opposite is also true. I've lived through both. The right combination of personalities in a classroom is always fun to figure out too. It will be interesting to see what this year brings. Seventh grade -- how did we get here???

Josh also moves into the Youth group at church in two weeks. Youth group??? WHAT? He can't be that old? I think it will be a lot of fun for him and I am prayerful that he will have lots of opportunities to do things for God. I know the leadership there is excellent and I know that he will benefit from all their skills.

Ellie's parent night is next week. She is starting our church's MDO and Preschool this fall. I hope she enjoys it. I think she will soak up the school stuff like a sponge. She has really been interested in her colors and numbers lately -- letters not so much. I think this will be fun for her!!

Ellie also will start AWANA this fall as a Puggle. That's the entry level for AWANA and is for two-year-olds. She LOVES church. We are so blessed that God allowed us to be her family and to share our church family and our faith with her. She will be such a blessing to Him, I know.

So, I'm excited to get back into a routine for our entire family. I hope to be able to take a week to spend cleaning/organizing the house -- to include a lot more trash/Goodwill things, I think. It's been a long time coming. I crave organization lately. Too much clutter is making me lose my mind (what little there was left). If I can get organized, I'm hopeful I can make more hairbows, scrapbook more and be a little more crafty in my "I can't get in it" craft room.

Josh has started football again. Practices are SO HOT. I can't say I know this first-hand because I haven't been. Poor Kevin and Ellie trudge up there to be the supportive family and I stay home to get things done while there are less people to work around.

So, that's where we are right now. I'll try to find you some cute pictures of the kiddos soon!
