Diaper Rash, Curious George and Food

Ellie started developing diaper rash on Friday -- ironically, about the same time we started using our cloth diapers. It has gotten really bad and today I took her to the doctor as I suspected she might have a yeast infection. And, yes, she did. I felt so bad for her. It is SO red, raised and just angry looking. We started nystatin today and hopefully will see some improvement tomorrow.

I also picked up a wrist brace today and I can already tell a difference. It feels so much better and I can tell all the things that my poor arm/wrist were doing that caused the pain. I think maybe my osteo-biflex stuff is helping too because the joint pains seemed to be getting better. YAY.

Ellie is in love with her Curious George doll. She talks to him, kisses him, laughs at him and hugs him. They have lengthy "conversations" in baby mumble. It's hilarious to watch. She's also becoming pretty fond of Elmo.

She is eating very well and today we started plain yogurt, added some fruit and wheat germ and she just ate it up like it was the best thing she's ever had. She's also grown very fond of the fruit/nut breakfast type breads I've been getting at Publix. Today's variety has apples, raisins, and dates. She's become a very good eater in the last few days. She most definitely wants to have food if she sees you eating.

ME AGAIN ! JOHN JOHN WAS ALLERGIC TO DIAPERS SO I HAD TO USE CLOTH DIPAERS ALL OF THE TIME. ONCE AGAIN I HAD MY OLDER DR WHO TOLD ME THAT WITH CLOTH DIAPERS, THE MOISTURE IS NOT TAKEN AWAY FROM THE SKIN. HE TOLD ME WE HAD TO CHANGE EVERY HOUR OR SO AND ALWAYS USE A LAYER OF VASELINE OR DESITIN OR POWDER TO HELP PROTECT THE SKIN. ALSO 10 YEARS AGO TARGET CARRIED THESE COOL DIAPER COVERS. THEY WERE CLOTH AND VELCRO BUT THEY HAD A LAYER OF PLASTIC IN THE MIDDLE TO STOP LEAKS (A LITTLE). HE ALSO TOLD ME WHEN JOHN GOT A YEAST INFECTION (YEP BOYS CAN GET THEM) TO HAVE HIM LAY ON HIS TUMMY LIKE DIURING NAP TIME, LET'S SAY ALL NATURAL. PUT HIM ON A FOLDED UP TOWEL OR SOMETHING SO IF HE WENT IT SOAKED IT UP. I GOT LUCKY AND FOUND A BED PAD THAT ABSORBED "ACCIDENTS". IT REALLY HELPED HIM. HE HAD HORRIBLE DIAPER PROBLEMS. I DO NOT KNOW HOW OUR GRANDPARENTS USED THE CLOTH ONES ALL OF THE TIME. BLESS EM!! BUT JOHN JOHN WAS POTTY TRAIMED BY 15 MONTHS OLD !! good luck !!
