For Fun

While I was working today I heard a song on the radio and it got me to thinking about what the first music I purchased was. And then I began to wonder if others remember the very first music you bought and what format it was in (CD, tape, record, 8 track, etc.).

So, for fun, leave a comment on what yours was.

Oh, and mine: Does Your Mother Know, by ABBA. And, it was a 45 record. I bought it at JCPenney. Can you believe that they used to sell music?

I had a little jukebox that played 45s. I had a Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers and the song "Our House in the middle of our streets" (I can't remember the real title or who sings it). That was the first music of my own I remember having :)

My first vinyl album was Billy Joel's 52nd Street. Well, that was the first one of my own that I bought with my own $$. Before that, I bought the soundtrack from Grease with my sister. And before that I asked Santa for DYNOMITE (one of those k-tel collections). I think it had Disco Duck on it!!

My first record player was the classic white one with the orange handle. I think I still have it in the attic. The first album that I remember buying was Shawn Cassidy with the Da Do Run song. Maria, I bought it at the record store across the street from what is now the Sudden Service across from your mom's shop. That little building has been everything under the sun (bakery, music store, etc.) I saved a lot of money to get that album and was so proud! Man, am I old!

Honestly don't remember the first one I bought, but the most memorable and favorite of mine was Michael Jackson Off The Wall...I was about 6 or so...but in LOVE with him...then, in 5th grade, got Thriller for my birthday (both in the 33 1/2 version, of course!)and really was over the moon...

Hmmmmmmm---little did I know....

My first was in 1972 when I was 10 years old, a Three Dog Night album called "Seven Separate Fools". It had the song "Black and White" which I loved.
