Prayer Request

For all of you faithful blog readers, I'd ask that you keep our family in your prayers over the next few weeks. Kevin got notice of lay off today. We had suspected it was coming for quite some time as his company has been struggling and has had several lay-offs over the past year and had mandated a pay cut several months back.

We certainly feel that God has great plans for our family. My life verse comes to mind: Jeremiah 29:11 -- For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and future.

Today I got a forwarded email from my cousin and in it, there was this paragraph:

Notice, in David's time of need, he wasn't sitting around having a pity party and complaining. He decided to sing about the greatness of God. He was saying in effect, "My enemies may be powerful, but I know my God is all powerful. My obstacles may be high, but I know my God is the Most High." He wasn't talking to God about how big his problems were; he was talking to his problems about how big his God was!

So, let this be a reminder to all that nothing is too big for God. He knew that Kevin's job would be gone today -- even when we didn't. He knows what tomorrow holds and how He will provide for our family.

We are thankful for your prayers at this time. Please also remember Kevin's two co-workers who were also laid off today.

That is sucky news! So sorry to hear it. At least it came well after the adoption.

My husband lost his position last March and he still has not found anything. Recovering recession my *%$! as he has not had so much as ONE interview despite the fact that he has sent out tons of resumes and spends many hours each jobsearching/networking. Hopefully Kevin's search won't be as long.

Maria,

I'm so sorry to hear this. We were told at the end of last school year that Rick was going to be laid off (there went the entire income for our family of 8 since I stay home). We then proceeded to spend our whole summer stressed out and worried. He sent countless resumes out (literally hundreds) and not one interview. Nothing. Finally, two weeks ago they changed their minds and "found the money" and he's back on the project. Lots of stress to go through all for nothing. Please let Kevin know he is definitely NOT alone and that we know what he's going through. Your whole family will be in our prayers. I just know that God will provide for you and that things will work out. Please let us know if we can help in any way. Hugs to everyone.

That is so terrible. I keep hearing this more and more from people I know. We will certainly be praying for you guys along with the others that come to mind. God does tell us that he even takes care of the birds, so we don't need to worry. That is hard to remember and apply, and I to struggle with that. My husband is self employed and there are months when he has no work, but somehow at the end of it all God always provides. At least we have God to depend on, as many don't.

I wanted to send you an email but I can't seem to find your email address!

Anyway, as you know we are in the same situation. I'm so very sorry that you are having to deal with us, believe me I understand the stress! I really hope that a job comes up quickly for your husband.
