Gotcha Day

Hope this video works because I'm falling asleep at the computer. There will be more later, but I'm REALLY tired and going to sleep. Please pardon errors -- I did parts of this holding a baby and other parts falling asleep.

She's a stunningly beautiful little girl who is happy most of the time. She appears to be teething and doesn't want to eat much and has been very fussy tonight. But, we will get through it.

Adoption is a journey you will never forget. Hang in there. Andrew also had trouble with his eating when we got him. He would eat some table food for us but it took close to a month to get him use to a bottle! We tried several different kinds of bottles too but none of them are like the orphanage bottles. We did notice that the holes on the nipples of our bottles were not that big compared to the ones there use to, so you might want to make it a little bigger. She looks so healthy though. Are Andrew was only 12lbs at 9 months, and look where he is now. When he got home he gained a pound a week for awhile. Beware for the blow out diapers though. Every child that I know who has been adopted from Kyrgyzstan has had a parasite. Oh Yeah! If you ever have any questions feel free to email me. We did have an adjustment period, and It helps when you can talk to someone who has gone through that. She is absolutey beautiful and God is so good!

I have been lurking on the your blog, for over 7 months now. My mom is in the process of adopting domestically. I just wanted to say congratulations to you and your family. She is so beautiful and so lucky to be coming home with you. Good luck on the rest of your journey over there. And have a safe journey back home!

Wow, that was a SERIOUS tear- jerker!!! I am so happy for you and your whole family. I hope the rest of the trip is easy and fum. And remember, she may be teething, but everything will be new to her as well, so the fussiness may be a coping mechanism. But I have absolutely no doubt that her wonderful new mama will give her plenty of what she needs most. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Don't forget to take care of you too!

Lot's of hugs and love,

More tears of joy for you! Ellie looks healthy and happy. Hope the teething gets a little better. I am so happy for you, Maria. And your entire family too!

I keep thinking back to last November and our Vietnam Dreams group. We've come so far in less than a year!

What an amazing video. I am choked up remembering my own "Gotcha Day" at Tokmok exactly 2 years and one month ago.

Your little girl is so beautiful and you will be so happy together. These Kyrg babies are awesome! Please don't worry about the not eating, or the loose poopies, or the not sleeping. My Isabella was the same. It takes 4-6 weeks for their little systems (and yours!)to settle down. Can't wait to hear more when you get her home!
