Sunday's Photos

While it is just turning Sunday in the States, we are already almost through with the day. Ellie is napping and we are trying to get our things together to leave for Almaty at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow. We probably will not be able to post photos from there until I return home as I understand internet rates (along with everything else) is pretty high there.

We had a nice day today and got to have lunch with P. who is picking up his daughter on Tuesday of this week. We both were lifesavers to one another -- he with baby orajel, bottle liners, poopy bags and a teether and I with a hot pot. After lunch at the Metro, we all went over to the Beta Store for our last souvenir shopping and to stock up on diapers and wipes for the rest of our trip. My understanding is they cost more in Almaty, but I don't know how as a pack of 24 diapers is almost $10. A jumbo pack is $32. Wipes refills are $4.85. A tub of wipes is $7.70. OUCH!! Anyway, we are stocked up.

We got back to the hotel just before the bottom dropped out -- thank goodness.

Here are a few photos of Ellie. We've not been good minions -- we just don't take enough photos of her, but we are too busy playing with her or doing the necessary things. Sadly, she is much smaller than I thought she'd be, so her 3-6 months clothes (most of which are the sizes I brought with me) are too big. Three month outfits and 0-3 month outfits fit her very well, but the others are too big. We took the photo of her in her leopard print anyway, because it was cute!

Jennifer made it until today before her breakdown. Bless her heart, she is missing her family something badly and I feel for her. We are on the downhill slide, but it's still a way away.

As I put her down for her nap today and she was cooing and giggling, the Bible verse came to my mind that I remember meditating on during our adoption. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. What a blessing this little one is already. I can't wait for her daddy and brother to get to know and love her as much as I already do.

HA! I give that baby 1 month of teensyness and then BOOM, watch her grow!! Noah was under 10lbs when I picked him up. Just over 11lbs when we got home 2 weeks later and then proceeded to gain a pound a week for the next 6 weeks. Now I'm worried I will have a 5oolb 8 month old. lol.

I know you have heard it from other AP's nut watching them catch-up physically and developmentally is truly amazing. It's like watching human growth on one sped up film.

Keep taking lots of photos so I can watch it too. She is so breathtakingly beautiful, it will be such fun to watch her grow.

Also, again, I think you are doing an amazing job of helping her through the transition. There will be more as you get home, but she is already learning that she can trust you, so it may be easier for her. She will let you put her down at some point son. We are finally to that point and it took many a long night, but we saw progress every single day, so we knew we were on the right track.

You are doing great. Enjoy the drive to Almaty, I think it is beautiful. And say "hi" to my other kids' birth country for me will ya?

Oh, and I also wanted to tell you that no one will give you a second glance in Almaty as a caucasian carrying around an asian baby. They are beyond used to it, both from the adoption world and from there being so many foreigners there.

Cheers!

She looks like a little old lady in that first pic! I love it!! Good for Jennifer for waiting this long. We were so ready to come home after we got Scarlett, but ESPECIALLY once we were in Almaty. You'll be home soon!

In the meantime, I'm going to swipe that picture of the yurta from a previous post...I don't have any good ones.

yeah, Phoebe swam in her 3-6 month old clothes too. Believe or not, despite the pictures of her now, she still fits 3-6 month clothes, she is a little peanut and did not grow like her brother who was like Noah, gained 5 lbs the first 3 weeks he was home. we are finally headed into 9 month clothes but at 15 months she'll still be wearing that size:) Enjoy the blessings of having a girl!
